Romeo, Maria (nee Calabrò)
Passed away peacefully on Saturday June 29, 2019 in her 97th year at St. Joseph Hospital.
Pre-deceased by her loving husband Francesco Cosimo (1992). Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Elizabeth and Robert Shachtay of Richmond B.C., Anna Maria and John Martello of Hamilton.
Dearly loved nonna of Christopher (Margaret), Michael and Nancy (Domenic). Great-grandmother of Ryan, Kaitlyn and Gianluca. Pre-deceased by her siblings Francesco, Francesca, Teresa, Serafina, Giovanni, Eleonora, Giuseppe and Angelica all of Italy.
Also pre-deceased by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Salvatore and Josephine Romeo of Hamilton.
Beloved aunt to Mariarita and Antonino Laganà of Reggio Calabria, Italy. Survived by many relatives in Canada and Italy.
Maria will be remembered as a passionate gardener and an excellent seamstress. In addition, her culinary skills were enjoyed by her family who looked forward to weekends to share her delicious meals.
Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL 43 Barton St. E. (near James St.) on Thursday July 4th from 5:00- 9:00p.m. and on Friday July 5th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. with vigil prayers at 7:30pm.
A funeral mass will take place at All Souls Church on Saturday July 6th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
