It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Ann (Saunders) Young surrounded by her loving family on July 23rd at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on October 13, 1961. She was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Devoe) Saunders. She was a member of Holy Family church.
Judy enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed the simple things, whether it be a trip to the grocery store, a sleepover and treat night with Aaron, Gabe and Ainslie, a phone call from family and friends, or visit and a cup of tea from anyone. Judy’s door, arms, and heart were always open.
Judy never had any children of her own but is survived by the many nieces and nephews she called her own, brothers Ernie (Lillian), Kenneth, and Bucky all of Sydney Mines. Sisters Marie (Robert) Potter, Rose (Bill) MacRae all of Sydney Mines, Matilda (Michael) O’Toole of Alder Point, and Bernadette (Rob) Ontario, along with her special great grand nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend of 38 years Charles Young, baby brother William James, John Kevin and Bernard Francis and grandparents Ernest and Matilda Devoe and John and Margaret Saunders.
Judy’s family would like to give a special thanks to everyone in the palliative care unit as well as the staff at 4B and band mates Jessica Dilney and Jill Murphy. We would also like to extend heart felt thanks to her neighbors for always keeping a watchful eye, especially her dearest friends Kay and John (Gibby) Gibbons.
Cremation has taken place, visitation will be held Sunday July 28th from 6-9 pm at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home 635 Main Street, Sydney Mines. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Judy’s life will be held Monday July 29th at 11am in Holy Family Church, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Reception to follow in parish hall.
We knew you were tired but There’s a piece of our hearts that’ll never heal without you here. Go be with Charlie and the family. We promise you will never be forgotten. We love you Mama xoxo.
