Joyce’s Obituary
SMALL, Joyce Elizabeth, age 98, of Tideview Terrace, Digby, Nova Scotia passed away on July 13, 2019. She was the youngest daughter of the late Roy and Blanche (Outhouse) Small, of Tiverton, Nova Scotia, where she had her early schooling. In 1941 she entered the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing, Saint John, N.B. graduating in the class of 1944. In 1947 she went to New York City to the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. She retired from New York in 1976, returning to Nova Scotia to live in Halifax for 28 years where she enjoyed golfing, as a long-time member of the Ashburn Golf and Country Club, also bowling with the Sunset Bowling League, with many good friends. In 2004, after a stroke, she moved to Digby. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by her parents and only sister, Anna Marie (Small) Teed, nephews Roger Teed and Clyde Teed; and also fiancé, Harold Farrell of New York in 1965. Surviving are two nieces-in-law, Brenda (Roger, deceased) Teed and Pat (Clyde, deceased) Teed, great nephews Jeff (Helen), Scott (Julie), Stephen (Denice) and great niece Alanna (Ronald) and their families and cousin, Leonard Small of Tiverton, Nova Scotia. Cremation has taken place; no visitation by request. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2019 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Tiverton, Nova Scotia.
