Janaya Dawn Chekowski Stepaniuk McKenzie
Janaya Dawn Chekowski Stepaniuk McKenzie passed away peacefully on July 20, 2019 at the young age of 9 years old after a hard fought battle with a rare form of brain cancer called DIPG. She was loved by everyone who met her and admired for her strength and courage. She is survived by her mother, Amanda Stepaniuk; her fathers,Jayte Stepaniuk and Sean Mckenzie; grandmother, Tara Chekowski; grandfather, Ben McKenzie; uncle Trevor(Amanda); aunts , Cassie and Ashleigh; cousins, Skyla and Rayden Chekowski; great- grandmother, Nancy Chekowski; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her cousin, Breaze Chekowski. We will be having a Celebration of Janaya’s Life Friday, July 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 -111 Avenue, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers because of Janaya’s generous nature we are asking for toys to be brought to the celebration which will be donated to the Pediatric Oncology department of the Stollery Children’s Hospital in her honour. As this is a celebration for Janaya, we ask you wear bright, fun colors.
