Ian Charles McIntosh Sunday February 10th 2019 avis de deces

Feb 16, 1926 – Feb 10, 2019
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday May 18, 2019 at 1:00PM located at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Prince Albert, SK.
We are sad to announce that our beloved husband and father, Ian Charles McIntosh, passed away 6 days short of his 93rd birthday.
He leaves to mourn: Glenys (nee Byron), his wife of 66 years; daughter, Anne; son Ross (Kitty Pope); and son, Murray; 4 grand dogs; 3 nephews, 1 niece, and their children. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Genevieve and his sister, Joan Smith, as well as brother-in-law Tommy, sister-in-law Cathy and nephew Douglas.
Ian was born in Winnipeg and raised in Kinistino until 1943 when he enlisted in the Navy. He served as signalman on a frigate until 1945. He later made his way to the Holinger gold mine in Timmins, Ont. There he met, and married, Glenys in 1952. They moved west to Alberta; Anne and Ross were born while there. They then settled in PA and Ian began accounting at Charles McIntosh & Co, and Murray was born.
While accounting, he looked forward to the weekends! That was when he enjoyed farming his father’s land. Volunteering played a big role in his life, especially after retirement. He was part of the visitation program at the penitentiary and provincial jail and was a ‘cuddler’ on the pediatric ward.
He loved to travel, whether it was short drives to the lake, or travelling across Canada and the States. He also traveled to Germany, England, Wales, Hawaii, and Korea. His hobbies were reading, golf, and cross-country skiing.
Ian was a generous man always interested in learning, and he maintained that love of learning to the end. His final generous act was the donation of his body to the U of S to support the further learning of new medical students.
Following the Service, lunch will be served at the Legion. All are welcome. Donations in Ian’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium Brian and Bev Stobbs, Renée Phaneuf – Funeral Directors. www.MacKenzieChapel.ca . 306.763.8488.
