Harold Russell Ferguson

Ferguson, Harold Russell (July 18, 1927 – July 20, 2019): of Truro and formerly of West Earltown, passed away peacefully at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born and raised in West Earltown, he was the son of the late William James and Effie Belle (Hayman) Ferguson. Harold is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara (Beck) Ferguson; sisters, Christine Townsend, Riverview, N.B.; Irene Ferguson, Truro; brother-in-law, Kenneth Beck; sisters-in-law, Muriel Beck and Marion Beck; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Frances (Langille) MacBain; Alexander; Katherine “Kaye” Carter; Anne Harris; Evelyn Thompson; Donald; Janet Thompson; Dorothy (Cameron) Murphy; Henry. Harold was a member of Sedgwick Memorial Presbyterian Church, Tatamagouche, and an adherent to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Lower Truro. He was a member of Wallace Masonic Lodge, Cedar Atlantic Chapter OES, Wallace, and Good Times Senior Citizens, Truro. Harold worked on the family farm and various jobs including the Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1988. Fiddle music and camping were his passions. As with Harold’s wishes, his body has been donated to Dalhousie University Medical Research. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28 in the Balmoral Kirk (the former St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church) 2395 Hwy. 256, The Falls. A private burial will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
