Giovanni Paglia, aged 86, passed away at Baycrest Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. He was born April 17, 1933 in Monte San Giovanni Compano, Italy – where he met the love of his life, Giuseppina, his wife of 59 years.
Giovanni is survived by Giuseppina and his beloved children – Anna (Mario), Sante, Ralph (Susan), and Robert.
Giovanni loved life, especially spending time with his family. He enjoyed music and often broke out in song – much to the delight of those around him. His sense of humour was contagious and he brought a smile to the face of all those he met, charming his nurses to the very last.
Working in the construction industry his entire life, he took pride in having to contributed to the very skyline of Toronto. He helped to build the CN Tower, the Toronto Dominion Bank Tower, the Scotia Bank Tower, and, his favourite: The Royal Bank Building (he loved it because it was gold….just like his heart we think).
A special thanks to the staff at Humber Hospital and to the Baycrest Palliative Care team for their loving care and support during his last days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Ward Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
As expressions of sympathy donations to Baycrest Hospital would be appreciated.
