Franklyn’s Obituary
MOULAISON, Franklyn Eugene – Amirault’s Hill, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2019, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital at the age of 76. Husband, father, and grandfather, he will be extremely missed by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-five years, Carol (Amirault); his four children, Warren (Gaëtane), Bermuda, Glenn (Jane), Winnipeg, Maureen (Tim), Edmonton, and Annette (Blair), Summerville; his eight grandchildren, André, Claude, Luc, Sophie, Roché, Ange, Alyre, and Anik; and his two sisters, Eileen Surette (Nelson) and Cora Brossard (Yvon). He was predeceased by his brother Stan Jr., and his parents, Stanley and Adelta, as well as by special family member, Millie Bourque. Franklyn began his working life as a certified welder with R. H. Pothier Welding Ltd. He worked briefly as the custodian of Amirault’s Hill Consolidated School before beginning his thirty-three year career as an esteemed and much-loved bus driver for Clare-Argyle School Board and for the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP). During this time, he also established his reputation as a master metalworker by launching Franklyn’s Metal Fabrications. His workmanship was of exceptional quality, illustrating his desire to always take pride in whatever he did. His many creations—wrought iron railings, spiral staircases, gates, chairs, pieces of church art, etc.—reveal a well-developed artistic sensibility. Franklyn was also very active in his community. He was a founding member of Knights of Columbus, Council 8988 Bishop Albert Leménager, of the Indian Sluice Seniors’ Club, and of the Twin Village Social Club. He took the most pride in his Acadian heritage, being the driving force behind and originator of le Festival d’la barge, an annual summer celebration of local Acadian culture. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place on Tuesday July 23rd, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 24th at Holy Family, Amirault’s Hill, Father Albéni d’Entremont officiating. Interment to follow in Parish Cemetery, Amirault’s Hill. Memorial donations may be made to the VON or the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family wishes a heartfelt thank you to Drs. Webster and Moses, to the VON, to the nursing staff on 4 East at Yarmouth Regional Hospital, as well as to the students from the Dalhousie School of Nursing.
