Elizabeth “Jane” Landry – River Bourgeois
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Jane” Landry 98 formerly of River Bourgeois, which occurred Thursday July 25, 2019 at her residence at Richmond Villa, St. Peters.
Born on November 15, 1920 in River Bourgeois, she was the daughter of the late Anselm and Christina (Pottie) Mc Phee. Jane was a devout Roman Catholic and served her Parish of St. John the Baptist as a member of the CWL for over 66 years; she is the last surviving founding member of the CWL.
Jane loved music and enjoyed singing and playing a tune on her accordion. She and Gervase enjoyed going to play bingo together and went whenever they had a chance. Jane had a love for reading, sewing, knitting and cats, however her favorite pastime was baking and she was known to have made many a bonnack in her day.
On September 10, 1946, she married Gervase Landry; together they raised their family and enjoyed almost 60 years of married life.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, Jane will be missed by her daughter Lola (Kenny) Petitpas, D’Escousse; son Melvin, Halifax; grandsons Kevin (Vicky)Petitpas, Port Hastings; Nathan (Sue Arulanandam)Petitpas, Toronto and a great granddaughter Amelia Jane. She also is survived by sister in law Melda Clattenburg, New Brunswick, along with many nieces and nephews
She was predeceased in 2006 by her husband Gervase Landry, sister Lola Manning and brothers Clarance, and Allen McPhee.
Resting in the River Bourgeois Visitation Parlor on Monday July 29, 2019 with visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 pm; Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday July 30, 2019 at 11 am, with Rev. Antolin Asor presiding, burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In memoriam donations to the Richmond Villa Recreation Department or St. John the Baptist Cemetery Fund, would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank Dr. Collins, the staff and all the volunteers of Richmond Villa who have given our Mom exceptional care while a resident at the Villa and especially during her final days. We cannot thank you enough.
