David Barry Simpson, 57, of Howie Centre, passed away
Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional
Hospital.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of Betty (Nunn) and the late
Gordon Simpson.
Barry enjoyed spending summers with his family in Baddeck,
where he developed a love for sailing at a young age. Anyone blessed
enough to know Barry enjoyed his calm and caring manner. He loved his
family and friends dearly and in August 2005, he married his best
friend and love of his life, Wendy. Barry was an incredible stepdad to
Max and Jessie, giving them unending love and support.
He worked at BT Napa, and developed many friends who
recognized his loyalty and eagerness to help. Though his illness was
brief, he was blessed to have the support of incredible healthcare
professionals.
Barry is survived by his wife, Wendy (Green); stepchildren,
Jessie Haddad, Halifax and Max Haddad, Calgary; sisters, Barbara (Dr.
Jim) MacKillop, Sydney, Debbie Simpson, Sydney; brother, Lorne
(Janet), Cole Harbour; sisters-in-law, Diane Simpson, Halifax, Bonnie
(Brian) Allan, Dartmouth; brother-in-law, Jamie (Kim) Green, Truro;
nephews, Ian, Craig, Brent, Kirk, Christopher, Shawn, Alex, Adam, and
Jeffery; nieces, Laura, Jilliane, Brittney and Rebecca; grandnephews,
Jack and Camden; grandnieces, Sophia, Lilly, Madeline and
Capri.
Barry was predeceased by his brother, Kenny; father, Dr.
Gordon Simpson and parents-in-law, Frank and Patsy
Green.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, July 31,
2019 from 12 – 1 pm in Sydney Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service will take place at 1
pm in the Chapel with Rev. Dana Feltmate
officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial
Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Center and An Cala Unit
at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
