Canarino, Amelia Delores Chavarri
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our family matriarch – Amelia Delores Chavarri Canarino, late in the evening on Monday July 15. Our beautiful and precious Amelia left our sides unexpectedly and following a joyous family celebration and a happy day surrounded by loved ones, just the type of celebration she loved. As her loved ones gathered, her grandchildren raised a glass of wine in her honour, knowing that would make her smile. Amelia’s entire being was dedicated to her family; for nearly 53 years she was a beloved strong and dedicated wife of Aldo, loving best friend and mentor to her daughters Nora and Cathy, and loving and deeply respected mother-in-law of Tim Falconi and Carlo Guido. She supported and encouraged Aldo’s efforts in business, while she proudly cared for her children, providing for their every need around the clock. Her favourite pastimes included sitting in her beautiful gardens and sharing stories with her daughters and grandchildren. Amelia was fiercely committed, protective, and incredibly proud of her entire family, especially her daughters, grandchildren and their significant others: Michael (Sarah), Chris (Rayne), Sierra (Anthony), Aldo Jr , and Tim Jr (wife Lisa) and great-granddaughter Mila. Nana was willing to give her all for her grandchildren and has spent many years doing just that. From her unwavering love, showers of kisses, world-class dining, take out care packages, shopping sprees, caring attentive visits, and riveting teaching conversations on history and family, Amelia has been a steadfast model for her grandchildren and entire family; she will be deeply loved and missed. Nana set a standard for both parenting and grandparenting for generations to come through her kindness, commitment, and unconditional Love. We take comfort in knowing that Amelia (Ma/Nana) will continue to look over us and Pa from above. While Amelia leaves us, she re-unites with her parents Nora and Julio Chavarri, Aldo’s parents Aurelia and Carmine Canarino, and her brother-in-law Ernesto Kury (all pre-deceased). She will be sadly missed by her many treasured friends and family in both Canada and her Native home El Salvador, including (to name a few) brother Julio (Endrica) Chavarri, sister Cathy Kury; brothers and sisters-in-law Mario (Clara) Canarino, Anita (Gabe) Bitonti, and all of her nieces, nephews, and extended family. She will also be deeply missed by her dear friend Mercedes Burgos whom she considered a beloved sister. In addition to her love of children, Amelia loved animals, especially her loyal companion Vincenza; as a reflection of this love, we ask that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy (as contributions) be directed to either of the following: All Hearts Pet Rescue or One Kids Place. The family will receive visitors at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption on Thursday July 18th, 2019 from 9 am until time of a memorial mass at 10 am. There will be an inurnment at All Saints Mausoleum following.
And as Amelia always said “This is it!” which was her way of accepting life as it is.
