Born June 11 1939, Rothesay Bute, Scotland.
Alex, better known as Scotty, passed away peacefully in his sleep July 22, 2019. He was born to Andrew and Elizabeth Kernaghan into a family of 5.
Scotty (Alex) came to Canada by boat in the 1960’s, working in many trades throughout the years. He found his career at XL Meats in Calgary AB in 1972, later meeting his wife Laurie McKinnon, whose father, Neil McKinnon, owned XL Meats. Scotty was predeceased by his parents, siblings Andrew and Katherine, son David and daughter Melissa. He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie; children Amanda (Brian), Graham (Kourtney); grandchildren Carter and Watson Kernaghan, Wyatt, Hunter, Harper, and Ryder Doolittle, as well as sister-in-law Jean Kernaghan, Lachlan Kernaghan, Joan McKinnon and Dona Klaiber.
Scotty was a loving husband, father, and Papa and will be missed.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 3, 2019 at 1:00pm at 910 Railway, Cayley, AB for refreshments. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Scotty’s memory to the High River District Health Foundation 560 9 Ave S.W., High River, Alberta, T1V 1B3.
