Obituary of Mary Lutyk
LUTYK, Mary
At the age of 93 Mary passed away peacefully Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:14 a.m. at the lovely McNally House Hospice in Grimsby. Her daughters Vicky and Brenda were by her side. Mary (nee Kostyk) was born on December 4, 1925 in Starava Ukraine and emigrated to Canada with her parent at the age of three. She grew up on a homestead farm in Beauvallon, Alberta. The eldest daughter of John ad Katie Kostyk, she had her five siblings Mick Kostyk, Anne Walker, Josie Brown, Ruth Keller and Elizabeth North. She is survived by Anne and Elizabeth.
Mary and her husband Nick married in 1946 and moved to Winona Ontario in 1950 and have made this their home to this day. Sadly Nick Lutyk passed away in 1998. Together, Nick and Mary had four children, Vicky Skinder (Hans), Linda Davis (Gerald) Alan (Caroline) and Brenda who learned many life lessons from these unique and exceptional people. To treat people with kindness and respect were at the top of this list and they aim to pass these lessons on to others. Her daughter and sons-in-law deeply loved and respected Mary for her poise and gentle character.
Mary was also blessed with four wonderful grandchildren. Julia Ciofi (nee Davis) (Christopher), Jason Davis (Hailey), Emily Lutyk (Jeremy) and Chelsea Lutyk, who loved their Baba dearly.
Mary’s faith was paramount in her life. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and credited her healthy life to its teachings. She lived a happy, successful and satisfying life.
She will remain forever in our hearts as a shining example of what a loving Mother, Baba and friend should be.
In lieu of flowers Mary has requested that any donations you may consider to be passed on to Lincoln Pioneer Seventh Day Adventist Church in her name.
Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek Ontario on Monday June 24 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 25 at 1:00 p.m.
