DEVEAU (née Doucette), Mary Ann “Marianne avec l’ice cream chapeau“ – Passed away at age 83 on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Meteghan to the late Anna MacIsaac (née Doucette) and Frederick Nauss, she was lovingly raised by the late Volusien and Caroline (LeBlanc) Deveau in Mavillette. Mary Ann will be fondly remembered as a strong, sweet soul who loved to dance and sing. Funny until the end, she never ceased to surprise us with her clever jokes, adages and witty reprises. We will all remember her warm nature, her love of animals, her grace, poise and beauty. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfrid, and son, Jimmy (Susan) Kerr; survived by her children, David (Diane), Fort MacLeod; Wayne Craig-Kerr, Halifax; Ross, Winnipeg; Denise (Sid Teska), Ogdensburg, NY; step-children, Catherine (Glyn) Hart, Edmonton; Joan (Victor) Comeau, Meteghan; John Deveau, Belleville; Alma (late Don) Smith, Calgary; Betty (Bernard) Robichaud, Meteghan; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held Saturday, June 22nd at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Salmon River. Many thanks to Drs Webster and Chandler and the kind, attentive nursing staff at Yarmouth Regional Hospital who helped with her transition. Donations in memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada.
