MESSENGER, Virginia Louise – 88, Clark’s Harbour, It is with great sadness that we the family of Virginia Messenger announce her peaceful passing at the Bay Side Home on May 19, 2019. Born October 10, 1930, she was the oldest daughter of the late Helston and Dorothy (Penney) O’Connell. She grew up in Newellton, lived her married life in Clark’s Harbour and spent her last few years at the Bay Side Home in Barrington. Virginia’s family was a huge part of her life. She was a very passionate and dedicated member of Sea Breeze Rebekah Lodge and was also a member of Stoney Island Baptist Church. Virginia is survived by daughters, Pamela (Beverly) Atkinson, Jeri Lynn (Adlai) Cunningham; grandchildren, Kerry (Renee) Cunningham, Krista (Trevor) Nickerson; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Josie, Charlie, Denver; siblings, Frances Bowers, Liverpool; Hilda Adams, Shag Harbour; Dottie O’Connell, Bay Side Home; Robie (Cathy) O’Connell, West Head; Arthur (Heather) O’Connell, Barrington; Rahn (Blanche) O’Connell, Newellton. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; son-in-law, Ralph Quinlan; brothers-in-law, Lorraine Adams, Gilbert Bowers; sister-in-law, Joan O’Connell. According to a journal kept by her mother Dorothy, Virginia came into this world by the light of “a shining full moon”. It is only fitting that her passing would occur while the moon was again full and shining. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematoriums, Barrington. There will be a visitation held 7-9 p.m. with a Rebekah’s service at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, where the Funeral service will follow on Friday, May 24, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Crowell officiating. Interment to take place in Oakvale Cemetery, Clark’s Harbour. It has been requested there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Oakvale Cemetery, Bay Side Home Van Fund, or a charity of choice.
