Passed away peacefully after a short illness at Village Green Nursing Home in Selby on May 18, 2019. Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on November 13, 1944. Dear wife of 36 years to Peter Mercer. Daughter of James and Sarah Dobbin. Loving sister of Rose (Tom) Tinney, Cecilia Alkenbrack, Margaret Kellar, Louise Dobbin and Jimmy (Jean) Dobbin. Predeceased by her sisters Lorraine and Zoe and her brothers Bernie and Ron. Verna will always be remembered by her nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received at the Deseronto Royal Canadian Legion Branch #280, on Friday, May 31, 2019 between the hours of 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. to Celebrate her Life . Private interment to take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Village Green Nursing Home or the Lennox & Addington Hospital in memory of Verna.
