It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Todd at the age of 90 on December 28/2018 at Hillside Village in Salmon Arm with her loving family by her side.
Alice was a kind; patient and caring person who loved to laugh, dance, sing and play piano. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Alice was born in Bentley AB then moved to the lower mainland where she found love and started a family. She raised her family there before moving, first, to Armstrong then settling on a farm in the Skimikin Valley.
Alice was extremely hard working, tough as nails, and wore many hats throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked as a Psychiatric nurse, forestry worker, trapper, farmer, cake decorator, florist, among many other things but ended her working career as an entrepreneur owner operator of a successful bottle depot.
Alice loved her flowers, especially her roses, and spent many hours building beautiful flower beds. Alice’s days were always full. She spent her time doing everything from gold-panning, taking her grandchildren foraging for edible plants and mushrooms to writing science fiction.
Alice was pre-deceased by her husband Andy Todd and her brother Gerry Bauer.
She is survived by her sister Rhoda Johnson(Jim), brother Eldon Bauer(Diane) sister Shirley Haggkvist (Earl) and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her 3 children, Andrew Todd(Louise), Douglas Todd(Gayle), Linda King(John); her 6 grandchildren, Melinda Bryson(Jason), Curtiss Todd(Tina), Andrea Moser(Nick), Randall Todd(Chantal), Nicole Beath, Jason Beath(Lita); and her 9 Great-Grandchildren, Alexandra and Wade Bryson, Cameron Todd, Rudy, Ryder and Rayce Moser, Jacob Todd, Kayden and Alina Beath.
Following Alice’s Wishes there will be a gathering for family and friends in the spring among the flowers she so loved.
Thank-you to the entire staff at hillside Village especially those of cabin 1, whose love and care made Alice’s life more enriched; and to Fishers funeral home for your kind support and professionalism which made our difficult time a little easier.
“Remember me with sunshine and laughter for that is how I will remember you, if you can only remember me with tears and sadness, then don’t remember me at all.”
