Obituary of Harry Robar
ROBAR, Harry – Age 87, of Dayspring. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, and grandfather. Harry passed peacefully at home in the early morning on May 29th, 2019.
Harry was born on January 1st, 1932 in Maplewood to Arthur and Nellie (Zinck) Robar. He grew up and lived in Dayspring as the oldest of eight siblings. On August 31st, 1962, he married Patsy. They shared a wonderful life filled with love and happiness. Together they had two children, Wendy and Artie.
Harry loved his work and was a skilled boat builder and carpenter, eventually becoming the general manager at H.W. Brady Ltd. In 1980, together with his brother Jerry, Harry co-founded Robar Countertops Ltd. He loved to be at “the shop”, where he worked well past his retirement, designing and building machinery that will be used for years to come.
Harry could fix anything and was always eager to help his friends and family with their many projects. A man of few words with a great sense of humour, Harry was a wealth of knowledge and could always be counted on for advice and support. He spent countless hours in his home shop designing, fixing, and building things for others. Nothing was ever too much trouble. He served his community as a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church Council, Dayspring Fire Department, and Dayspring Cemetery Committee. Most of all, Harry loved spending time with his family.
Harry leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Zinck); daughter Wendy (Stephen) Sawler; son, Arthur (Claudia) Robar; grandchildren, Megan Sawler, Matthew Sawler, and Owen Robar. He is survived by siblings, Gerald (Elaine) Robar; Kathryn Wagner; John (Myrna) Robar; David (Linda) Robar; Dianne (Bob) Hillocks; Wayne (Dianne) Robar; Elaine (Phillip) Myra.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Mt.
