Benjamin Benny Sieben 2014 2019

Obituary for
Benjamin “Benny” Sieben
Benny bravely left this world for a better, more beautiful place on Friday, May 24 at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. He was surrounded by the people that loved him the most. Though he was small, he was fierce. He loved everything and everyone and that was evident when you met him. His beautiful blue eyes and long eyelashes would get you every time. He had a love for cars and trucks. He could name every make and model and tell you if it was new or old. He would often ask his doctors what they drove. In the summer you could find him outside cutting grass with his lawnmower or picking apples and cherries and planting the garden at Great Baba’s house.
Benny was kind and would move mountains for anyone. Even though he had been through so much he hated to hear another child crying in the hospital. That’s how strong his soul was. Sitting with his Didi cheering the Oilers and Eskimos on was one of Benny’s favourite things. He’d always be excited to yell “Goal” or “Touchdown.”
We are so privileged and proud to have been chosen to be his parents. We only wish that we will be as brave and strong as he was.
Benny will be lovingly and forever remembered by parents, James and Vanessa Sieben; his baba and didi, Irene and Larry Miskiw; grandparents, Phyliss (Al) Cloutier and Gerard (Kathy) Sieben; great baba, Nadia Prockiw; uncles and aunts, Michael (Jess) Miskiw, and Cory (Nicole) Sieben and cousins, Avery and Adam; godmother, Kaitlyn Sieben; numerous aunts, uncles, little cousins, many other loving extended family and friends; and his best fur buddy, Molson. Benny was predeceased by his great-grandparents, Harry Prockiw, August and Violet Vollman, Peter and Pearl Miskiw, and Blaze and Katie Sieben.
Thank you to Benny’s pediatricians, Doctors Chatur and McGonigle, his favourite Doctor Dicken; all the nurses that cared for Benny and us, especially the 4E3 nurses and Karen, and to the Kids with Cancer Society for all the support over the last four years.
If you wish, please wear blue at the service, Benny’s favourite colour.
Funeral Service Wednesday, May 29, at 1:00 p.m. at Exaltation of the Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church, 9003 – 153 Avenue. Reverend Janko Herbut officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to create a Benny Brave Foundation at Servus Credit Union, Vanessa Sieben In Trust for Sieben Family.
