Warden Roy 'Chic' April 12th 2019 avis de deces

Warden, Roy ‘Chic’
April 12th, 2019
Peacefully with family by his side, at University Hospital, in his 84th year, Roy “Chic” Warden passed away on the evening of Friday, April 12, 2019.
Husband of the late Colleen Lillian Warden (Forshee). Predeceased by his parents and brother Jim. Chic is survived by his brother Garry (Veronica); children: Randy (Nancy), Rick (Janet), and Carol (Gerrit); grandchildren: Ray (Charissa), Melissa (Josh), Michael (Andrea), Jocelyn (Dean), Reece, Jenna (Tim), Alicia (Rob), Dana, and Justin; and great-grandchildren: Michael, Jessica, Isabelle, DeAndre, Dante, DeVaughn and Lilly.
Born in St. Catharines, Chic enlisted in the Canadian Army in March 1956 to become a paratrooper with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He soon met his soulmate and the true love of his life, Colleen and kept his promise to show her the world. Dad’s military service took him from Canada’s most northern tip, from the Pacific to the Atlantic and to each and every province. With his family, Chic served three years in Germany with every vacation in a different country. His service also included training throughout the United States, including Alaska’s high arctic, and participating with a family exchange program with the Royal Jamaican Regiment. Chic served a United Nations tour of Cyprus in 1974-75 and is best remembered being Santa Claus as he was helicoptered in for the troops.
Following his retirement in 1976 from military service, Chic enjoyed a twenty-year second career as a special constable with the London Police Service. Recently, Chic was made a “Life Member” of the Vimy Branch, Royal Canadian Legion in recognition of his long service to the Legion and his community.
The family will receive visitors at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m., where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Chic are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
The family is appreciative for the spiritual guidance of Padre Frank Mantz; and for the compassion and support of the medical and support teams of University Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
