Rose Henderson Maiden McBride of Edmonton

Rose Henderson passed away at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Hospital. She is survived by her children, Shirley (Reg), John (Ruth), Patricia (Bill) and Barbara (John); 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Patrick (Shon). She was predeceased by her husband, Grant in 2013, son, Michael, and granddaughter, Laura.
Rose was born in Ireland and immigrated with her family to Lacombe Alberta when she was eight years old. After finishing high school she went for training as a stenographer, a profession that afforded her jobs in many locations. She was an excellent speller, a talent none of her children inherited. After World War II, she moved to Edmonton where she married Grant and raised her family in the McKernan and Lendrum neighborhoods. In 2007 Rose and Grant moved into Lifestyle Options at Riverbend where she resided until shortly before her death. Rose attended many activities and made many friends there. She could always be seen walking the hallways or walking to Safeway.
Rose and Grant spent many years travelling through Western Canada in their Empress Motorhome, spent countless winters in Hawaii, took numerous bus trips in North America and Europe.
A private family service of remembrance will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rose’s memory to the Edmonton Food Bank, 11508-120 Street, Edmonton, T5G 2Y2 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Rose Henderson Maiden McBride of Edmonton
