Phyllis Marie Johnstone
1935-2019
Phyllis Marie Johnstone – age 84, of Kentville, passed away
on Monday, April 22, 2019, at home. Born in Kingston, she was a
daughter of the late Jackson and Alice (Delong) England. Phyllis was
employed at Canada Foods, Nova Scotia Sanatorium and retired from
Canada Packers. She then spent her time taking care of her children
and grandchildren, who she cared deeply for. She enjoyed putting
puzzles together, reading books, knitting and loved popcorn. A special
thanks to her daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Willie, for jumping in
and helping mom in her time of need. She is survived by daughters,
Dianne Misner, Kentville; Lillian “Barb” (William)
Fredericks, Kentville; Janet (Ted) Nauss, Greenwich; Bernice (Bill)
Dominey, Welsford; Josephine (Jo) Schofield, Kentville; sons, Joseph
(Barb), Steam Mill; Walter (Lisa), New Minas; Charles, Ontario;
Lawrence (Michelle), Woodville; sisters, Alice (Bernard) McEwan,
Ontario; Dolly Johnson; Bernice (Frank) Loeb; Jackie England,
Yarmouth; brothers, Kenneth “Kenny”, South Alton;
Terry (Debbie), Bridgewater; Jeff, Alberta; 23 grandchildren, several
great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; many nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Grant; daughters, Linda
Croft and Ruby Johnstone; sister, Roseann Johnstone; brothers, Marty,
Everett and Wilfred. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until the
time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019
in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Pastor Christina Bigelow
officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Lakeview
Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to
Alzheimer’s Society, Canadian Cancer Society, the Annapolis
Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of one’s
choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
