Obituary of Marie O’Hara
Peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Thursday morning, April 18th, 2019. Marie Symon O’Hara (nee Symon), of Owen Sound, Dearly loved wife of the late John Thompson O’Hara. Predeceased by her parents, John and Dorothy Symon. She will be remembered by her dear friend, David Eng and her nephew, Dale Brooks. Marie was a very ambitious lady who graduated with a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario, London Teacher’s College and MSLSc from Wayne State University. Marie taught in both elementary and secondary schools in Ontario. She spent her summers at her summer home at Red Bay. The property was previously owned by her parents and grand-parents. Marie traveled extensively, she loved to ice skate and was an avid reader. Marie taught Sunday School at the Wiarton Trinity Anglican Church during her teenage years. She was very active at Red Bay – President of the Red Bay Association and donated a bench in Red Bay in memory of her parents and grand-parents.
A Graveside Service for Marie O’Hara will take place at a later date at Bayview Cemetery, Wiarton. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Chapman House Hospice as an expression of sympathy and may be made through the BRIAN E.
