Kourtney Brianna Lynne Creamer May 23 1996 April 3 2019 (age 22)

This is the hardest thing that we have ever had to do and will ever have to do, and putting it into words will not be easy, so please bear with us. Our beloved, funny, strong minded, intelligent, creative and all around beautiful daughter, Kourtney Brianna Lynne Creamer, was taken from us far too suddenly on April 3, 2019. She was born in Saint John on May 23, 1996 to Donald P. and Katherine Creamer.
Kourtney graduated with Honors from St. Malachy’s Memorial High School in 2014. She then became a student at UNBSJ and was aspiring to be a criminal lawyer. She campaigned to be VP External for the Student Union at UNBSJ and really wanted to bring a change to things. She did not do anything if she didn’t feel a strong passion for it. Kourtney was a strong minded girl, who gave her heart and soul to everyone. She was gracious and kind, and so generous. She struggled with mental health issues throughout her life, but she did not shy away from letting everyone know about them. Mental health should be normalized, not stigmatized, so she took it upon herself to advocate for mental health reforms as opposed to hiding her feelings away from everyone. Kourtney died tragically of sudden and rapid complications from pneumonia; she did not take her life. She lived her life to the fullest, in spite of her struggles with depression and anxiety. Her life was a story that sadly ended before she could reach chapter two and for that we are heartbroken. We want to continue her mission in life, to advocate for mental health reforms and to destigmatize mental illness. We want to ensure that our sassy and creative girl who loved her make-up and loved to shop, who loved animals – especially her kitty cat, Cinnamon – and loved to give of herself is not forgotten by anyone. (You’re allowed to forget her terrible cooking though). She was so much more than her struggles. She was a feminist and she founded groups in her university like “Creating Conversations”. She will be mourned and we will never get over this loss, but she will be remembered for every second of every day for how wonderful she was, how much potential she still had left to give and how deeply she cared for the future where a person did not need to hide their feelings. Let’s be open, let’s be honest, and let’s be loud. For Kourtney. As she said often, “Have Courage and Be Kind,” so please everyone, help someone else who’s in need. Do small acts of kindness each day for someone else. Women – stand up for other women! People, if you see an injustice, speak out! Life is meant for living and living well. Kourtney would want all of us to do just that.
Kourtney leaves behind her adoring parents; Donald P. Creamer and Katherine Creamer, her brother Krue and her sister Kaylee, her grandparents; Gloria Creamer, Roy White and Dawne Ingalls , god mother Tammy Williams and god father Mike Morgan, as well as numerous loved cousins, aunts and uncles and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her grandfathers Donald F. Creamer and Lyle Ingalls.
We will be celebrating Kourtney’s life in the best way that we can. Visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 2pm from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. We ask that anyone attending the visitation or funeral service wear just as much purple as you can. Kourtney’s favorite color was purple and while this is so incredibly sad and heart wrenching, we want to see a sea of purple to honor her rather than somber dark colors. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, Kourtney’s family would like any memorial donations to be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick or to the SPCA – Animal Rescue League.
