Helen Barnes
1925-2019
BASS RIVER, NB – Helen Barnes, 93, of Bass River,
NB passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital,
Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Born in Bass
River, she was the daughter of the late Harry Farrer and late Alice
(Robertson) Farrer. After Helen raised her family, she was
self employed as a poultry and egg farmer, selling her eggs at the
Moncton Market for over 23 years. She was affectionately
known as “the egg lady”.
Helen will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Ruth
Barnes of Ottawa, ON, Marilyn Barnes (Ron) of Toronto, ON, Thelma
Green (David) of Stanley, NB; two sons, Charles Barnes, Keith Barnes
(Nicole) both of Bass River; seven grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one son,
Steven.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home
in Richibucto on Thursday from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service
will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 am, Thompson’s
Funeral Home Chapel in Richibucto officiated by the Reverend
Christopher Ketch. Donations in Helen’s memory may
be made to St. Mark’s Presbyterian Cemetery Fund and would
be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are in care of
Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
