Heather Watt
1974-2019
Heather Ann Watt
Heather Ann Watt was born in London, ON on 18 Nov
1974 and died with peaceful dignity and grace in Fredericton, NB on 28
April 2019. She grew up in Miramichi, NB before exploring
parts of the world to learn, visit, farm and cook. Driven
through her love of nature, Heather took an Outward Bound course in
Northern Ontario to garner the skills that she would use while
volunteering to work on organic farms throughout rural England,
Scotland and Wales. Heather was an extremely hard worker
with great strength and determination.
Heather was a whiz in the kitchen, obtaining her Red Seal
after attending the Culinary Institute of Canada in PEI. She
could whip up a meal with at a moment’s notice…if
only she had written down her recipes! She used these skills
to open and run Heather’s Restaurant in Vancouver, BC for a
number of years.
Heather has always enjoyed gardening, getting involved in a
community garden wherever she lived. She also adored her two
nephews, keeping up with their busy lives and sending little gifts
when she found the right one. She was never without a cat,
adoring them always and standing up for animal rights when she felt it
was needed.
Heather is predeceased by her father, John Bruce Watt and her
paternal grandparents, John and Francis Watt (Fredericton, NB) and her
maternal grandparents, Myrtle and Donald Macintosh (Charlottetown,
PEI). She will be deeply missed by her mother, Eleanor and
sister Janet (Chris), their children Lauchlann and Kai, special
friends Kathryn, Sue and Annie as well as extended family far and
wide.
Special thank you to Bonnie and Neil Watt for their
tremendous support and accommodation through a challenging time, but
especially for the soya lattes hand delivered! Huge
appreciation to the team and nursing staff at Stan Cassidy Centre for
Rehabilitation, as well as the doctors and nurses at Neuro ICU in
Moncton City Hospital for the extraordinary care over the past 4
months. There are amazing people working tirelessly and
compassionately in our Health Care System. Thank you
kindly.
Heather enjoyed the Celebration of her Life with friends and
family the day before her passing. There will be no funeral
service, but for those who wish, remembrances may be made to Stan
Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation www.stancassidy.ca
or Carma Cat Rescue Maritimes, Fredericton Chapter www.ca-r-ma.org/fredericton-chapter/.
