Peacefully, on April 19, 2019, at the age of 72, at her home in Rest Haven Nursing Home Steinbach, MB, Elizabeth (Betty) Bueckert (Neudorf) passed away.
Born on April 13, 1947, in Winkler to John & Margaret Neudorf (Petkau), she was baptised in the Steinbach Chortizer Mennonite Church, and married Peter Bueckert on May 1, 1966 in the Reinland Mennonite Church in Grunthal.
Mom worked as a homemaker all her married life and her children have fond memories of baking apple pies with her and found it comforting knowing that when they got home from school Mom would always be there.
Since early in her life, Mom struggled with mental health issues, and this made it hard for her to trust, and sometimes to communicate positively with those around her. She suffered a few nervous breakdowns, and later in life needing more help for this, spent some time in Eden Mental Health Institute in Winkler, Manitoba. She spent the remaining years of her life at the nursing home in Vita, and finally in Steinbach at Rest Haven. We’d like to thank Dr. Krahn and the workers at these facilities for the wonderful care she received.
Through all of these struggles, however, her faith in Christ never wavered. She was a prayer warrior, and her many prayers will be missed by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Peter, children and grandchildren; Peter A., Nikki & Angie; Barb (Brent) Crawford, Douglas, Kendra & Meaghan; Charles (Miryam), Justin, Hannah (Josiah Reimer) & Anthony; Erin (Agnes) & Jared.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, Steinbach, MB, with interment at the Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB. A viewing will be held at the Church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birchwood Funeral Chapel assist the family with funeral expenses.
