Neufeld, Doris Beatrice (née Crabtree)
On April 21, 2019 in her 90 th year after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s at Wynfield LTC Oshawa. Doris passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Doris was born on Dec 3, 1929 in Lake Parsippany New Jersey to William and Elenora Crabtree (deceased). Doris spent several years working in Israel with the US Information Service. There she met and fell in love with a Canadian who brought her to Canada, a country that became so very dear to her heart that it lead her to eventually become a Canadian citizen. Doris spent her career at Peterborough City Hall and engaged with many people who visited there on a daily basis. She was an active member of George Street United Church serving on many committees and lending her voice to the choir as well. She enjoyed her time involved with the Kiwanis. She was also active in many Peterborough organizations with a goal of making her community the best it could be. She was the beloved mother of Tom Neufeld (Brighton) and Myke Neufeld (Oshawa) and daughter in law Annette. She was also the cherished Grandmother of Andrew. Dear sister of the late Thomas Crabtree, Geraldine Bertholf (late Dutch). Step sister to the late Sonny Hollenbeck (Hope) and the late Julia Robinson (Francis). Predeceased by Tom and Myke’s father Henry Neufeld. She will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wynfield LTC Oshawa Purple Woods Wing for their compassion, kindness and amazing care of not only Doris but also our family. As per Doris’s wishes a private family service will be held at the time of internment. Arrangements entrusted to Highland Park Funeral Centre Peterborough with her final resting place to be at Little Lake Cemetery. Donations in Doris’s memory as per her wish can be made to Grandview Childrens Centre Oshawa, a charity dear to her heart that has supported her grandson during his life.
