It is with broken hearts that the family of Dennis Theodore Sullivan announce his passing which occurred peacefully at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on Saturday April 27, 2019. Born in Barnaby River, NB on January 11, 1922, he was the son of the late John and Mary Sullivan. Dennis was a WWII Veteran serving in the Canadian Army with the 13th North Shore Regiment. He later became a skilled Carpenter and then a talented Barber, working alongside his brother Bill and at the Admiral Beatty. In later years Dennis worked at National Harbour Board in Security, retiring in 1984. In 2014 Dennis was appointed Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour by the Government of France. Dennis was a loving and devoted husband, father, grampy, great-grampy, brother, uncle and friend. Those who knew and loved him will miss him forever. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Catherine (Bohan) Sullivan; daughters Mary Buffett (Gerald Gauthier) of Saint John and Josie Ernst (Rob) of Melcalfe, ON; sons Gerard Sullivan (Terri-Lynn) and Patrick Sullivan (Malini) both of Saint John; precious grandchildren Jenn, Sandra, Megan, Karl, Sarah, Justin, Courtney, Jeffrey, Elaine, Aaron and Anna; great-grandchildren Sully, Annie, Peter, Louie and two more on the way; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Dennis was predeceased by all of his siblings’ brothers John, Frank, Chris, Joe, Bill, and Edward; sisters Katie and Mary. Dennis is resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, with visitation on Tuesday April 30th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. with a Tribute to a Veteran service begining at 5:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 801 Barnaby Road, Barnaby River, NB on Thursday May 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Arnie Hachey officiating. Visitation from 12noon until time of service. Interment to take place at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church Cemetery at a later date.
