Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on April 3, surrounded by the love of his family, Clyde Thomas Drover aged 79 years. Predeceased by his parents Max and Marion Drover, brothers George, Pierce, Don, and Mose and sisters Maxine and Betty (Lawrence). Left with many wonderful loving memories are his best friend and wife of 61 years, Muriel (nee Smith); children: Claudine (Ron) Noseworthy and Pauline (David) Osborne. Grandchildren Courtney (Devin) Seymour, Caitlin (Adam) Warren, Becky, Peter, and Aaron Osborne and Great-grandson Owen Seymour. Also leaving to mourn, his sister Elaine (Tom) Neville, sisters-in-law, Linda, Louise, Frances, and Louise. Also, brothers and sisters-in-law Ray (Mildred) Smith, Joyce (Albert) Bishop, Randell (Betty) Smith and many nieces and nephews. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson were his greatest joy in life and he cherished each and every moment with them. Clyde was a kind and caring friend to many. He always had a smile and was a positive and encouraging person to friends and strangers alike. He lived life with joy and enjoyed every day. Clyde loved to travel and cruise and he and Muriel went on many wonderful adventures together. They made many cherished memories as they travelled the world. He loved nature and especially loved to pick blueberries in the fall. With his giving nature, he shared more of them with others than he kept for himself. Clyde was an avid walker and stopped to talk to each person he met. Clyde will be missed by many in the communities of Bishop’s Cove and Upper Island Cove. He had a wealth of knowledge of the history and the families of these towns and loved to share his stories with others. Clyde went to work at a very young age. He worked on the base in Argentia, in Davis Inlet and he drove a school bus and worked at the Avalon North School District. He made lifelong friends wherever he worked. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the Health Sciences, We send a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tompkins for her kindness, and care. Thank you to Clyde’s “Family” doctor, Randy Smith and to his very own private nurse Betty Smith. We will always be grateful for the love and compassion you surrounded us with during a most difficult time.
Clyde was a loving husband, a gentle father, and a loyal friend.
In keeping with the way he lived, he wanted to make his passing as gentle and loving as possible for his wife and family. According to wishes, cremation has taken place.
To honour his memory, friends and family are welcome to visit his home in Bishop’s Cove to share stories of a life well-lived.
