31, 2019
On March 31, 2019, Bern passed away peacefully surrounded by
family at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 77
years.
He was predeceased by his wife Gertie; parents Daniel and
Mary; parents-in-law Fred and Dorothy Barrett; brothers, Gerard,
Cecil, Ned and Frank; sisters, Margaret Kelly, Beth Smith and Rose
O’Neill.
Bern will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Lori (Gary
Pitcher); grandsons, Lucas and Colby; sisters Josephine Griffiths,
Jean (Paul) Hebert, Marion Bruce; brothers, Harold (Kitty), Reg
(Pegi); sister-in-law Eliza Matchett (Reg); brothers-in-law Ray
O’Neill, Nath Barrett (Marguerite), Fred Barrett (Glenda),
Max Barrett (Linda), Eric Barrett; a large circle of nieces, nephews
and friends.
A special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff at the
Placentia Health Centre, Carbonear Hospital and Health Sciences Centre
for their kindness, compassion and support to the
family.
Resting at Maher’s Funeral home,
Placentia. Visitation on Tuesday, April 2 from 2 p.m. to 9
p.m. Funeral Mass from St. Anne’s Church,
Dunvillle, on Wednesday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m.
Interment to follow at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast,
Placentia.
Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation may be made to a
charity of your choice.
