Yvonne Fisher
Bathurst – Yvonne Fisher, wife of Robert
“Bob” Fisher, of Centennial St., Bathurst, passed away
Sunday March 10, 2019, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital,
Bathurst.
Daughter of the
late Lillian and Lawrence McCarthy, Yvonne lived in Grand
Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland, until she married
Bob.
She was the
loving mother of John (Natalie) of Bathurst.
She also leaves
behind her greatest enjoyment, two grandchildren: Reid and Hailey
Fisher, the children of Chris who predeceased her in
2016.
Also to mourn is
her brother John (Marilyn) of Corner Brook,
NF.
Daughter-in-law
Kezia Stever of
Bathurst.
Yvonne worked at
the Bank of Montreal for 7 years after graduating from Community
College. She was very active in her community having
belonged to the Holy Family Church Choir, The Northcliffe Drama Club,
the local bowling league as well as having served in the Royal
Newfoundland Regiment
(reserve).
Yvonne married in
1965 and moved to Quebec with her husband Bob. In 1966 they moved back
to Newfoundland where their two sons were born. They
remained there until 1971 when they moved to Bathurst.
Yvonne soon became involved in Holy Family Church Choir and had been a
member up until her passing. Yvonne was also a member of the
Rotary Choir for a number of years. She was also a member of
The North Shore Players where she performed in several
plays. Yvonne delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She
enjoyed playing bridge with close friends.
Yvonne worked as a Teacher’s
assistant at Coronation Park School for 12 years. While
there she was an integral part of the Music and Drama scene.
She was a member
of the Gowan Brae Gold Club for many years and was also active in the
Bathurst Curling Club where she served on the executive and also as
President of the Ladies Club. Yvonne loved travelling and
spent many winters with some of her friends from Bathurst in The
Villages, Florida. Bob and Yvonne did some extensive
travelling in Eastern Europe, The British Isles, The Caribbean and
Costa Rica. Yvonne and Bob made many trips back to
Newfoundland to renew old friendships and visit their
families.
She will be
dearly missed by her relatives and friends.
Besides her son
Chris, she was predeceased by her sister Edwina (2010) and brother
Lawrence Jr.
(2014).
The family will
receive relatives and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com),
Bathurst, on Wednesday, March 13th and 7 to 9
p.m. only. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday March,
14th 2019 at 2 p.m. from Holy Family Church,
St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Donations in memory of Yvonne may
be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the
donor’s
choice.
The family wishes
to extend thanks to the staff of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Dr.
Wade and the Extra Mural Program for the care and compassion given to
Yvonne.
