INGRAM: Robert Alexander “Alex”
Today a musician, teacher, and private pilot has been given his wings to play in the orchestra of the angels. Alex, in his 95th year, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Alex was the loved husband of the late Helen, Margaret, Sylvia, and Iola “Mickey” Rider. He is the dear father of Carol Kent, Janet Town, Gordon (Andrea) Ingram, and a late infant daughter. Alex is also sadly missed by the Rider family. Loving grandfather of Jeremy (Katie) Town, Stephanie (Chris) Williams, Brent (Michelle) Kent, Brian Kent, Kathy Kent (Derek Crabbe), Jocelyn Kent (Chris Leblanc), Grayson Ingram, and Aralynn Ingram. Great grandfather of Brody, Jade, Braydon, Jaxson, and Tyler. Alex began teaching in a one room schoolhouse outside Peterborough, then moved on to London, Woodstock, Mitchell, Whitby, and Port Perry. During his teaching years, he also played saxophone, clarinet, and flute. He played in marching bands, symphonies, his own groups, Barbershop quartets, clarinet group, and the Peterborough Liftlock Band. He played on the lake boats as a teenager and also gave private lessons in music. In his spare time, he flew his own plane out of Oshawa Airport and a field east of Oshawa. Friends may call at ASHBURNHAM FUNERAL HOME, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, on Thursday, March 14th, from 11 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Special thanks to everyone at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion shown to Alex.
