With sadness we announce Ollie’s passing on March 22nd, 2019. Ollie’s journey began with his birth to Ida and Lauri Kokkinen, Toronto, Ontario.
He began his working career as an apprentice mechanic for a Toronto car dealer. He moved on to be a partner in a Supertest gas station. After pursuing continuing education, he became an auto mechanics teacher. He did this for the rest of his career working his way up to technical director at a high school north of Toronto.
His passions included skiing, fishing, travel and his ancestral home in Finland. His outgoing, social nature, coupled with some of his passions, made him a perfect fit to become a partner in Red Mountain Ski Resort. He has lived in Rossland ever since.
Ollie leaves his partner of twenty seven years, Diane Johnstone, his three sisters Hellen, Irja, and Mailis (deceased), several nieces and nephews, his children James and Eleanor, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
