Margaret Viola (Wright)
Rushton – 87, Truro.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved
mother, Margaret, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, on
Thursday, February 28, 2019. Born in Deep Brook, Annapolis County, she
was a daughter of the late Loran Merrill and Jessie Edith (Cress)
Wright.
She is survived by her son, Dave (Sue), Wentzell Lake;
daughter, Marilyn, Halifax; son, Dale (Freda), Truro; sisters,
Shirley, Montreal, Quebec; Joyce Hartwig, Salt Springs Island, British
Columbia; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her daughters, Debbie
(Whitman), Pamela (Brown); son, Wade; sister, Gert; brother,
Les.
Margaret spent 35 years doing what she loved best –
teaching. From her first years in Margaretsville and Forest Glade on
the Fundy Shore to her last assignment at Parade School in Onslow, her
passion for teaching never wavered. She would often say how much she
would have loved to go back to the classroom…adding that
she’d lock the door to keep the modern methods out! There
are still many past students in the Truro area with fond memories of
her in her classroom.
Margaret’s other great love was gardening; her home
in Onslow was filled with gardens containing her beloved petunias,
marigolds, salvia, hydrangea and phlox amongst others. She had great
memories of people stopping to take pictures of her flowers and there
were many pictures on her walls at Parkland reminding her of this
other passion of hers. She also looked forward to her annual shopping
trips to the States with her friends and daughter, Marilyn, as
chauffeur; the car would come back with barely any room for the
occupants.
Her family would like to thank the staff at both Parkland and
Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their care and
compassion.
Family graveside service will be held at a later
date.
