Leo de Guzman, Sr. 91 peacefully passed away March 3, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Bone Cancer. He was born in Pulong Buhangin, Philippines Feb 11, 1928 and immigrated to Canada in 1974. He was employed by Macassa Lodge as an orderly. An active member of the church choir and prayer groups, he was always smiling and his sense of humour was legendary. He enjoyed watching UFC and any martial arts films. Pre-deceased by Priscilla, his loving wife of 36 years until her passing in 1997, he leaves behind his only child Leo, Jr., daughter-in-law Cleofe, grandchildren DJ, Korina and Cecile of Grand Prairie, Texas.
Thank you to Lito Mendoza for helping him for several years, Blanca, for your extra care and considering him as your father and Buddy for his communion every Sunday. Thanks also to the staff at The Wellington and the Palliative Care team at St. Joseph’s Hospital; Dr. Boyle, Dr. Vegas, Dr. Leoung and nurses who made him comfortable.
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena (Our Lady of Lourdes site) on Mohawk Road East, Hamilton, with Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Hamilton.
