Kenneth McGill Monday February 18th 2019 avis de deces

On February 18, 2019, Kenneth Stanley McGill left a void on this earth.
He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Daisy. He leaves behind his wife, just shy of 50 years together, Susanne, his children, Shannon McGill and Shawna Pliva (Stephane Stephane Wilfrid Legault), and his grandchildren, Metta, Keaira, Katelyn, Kamryn, Anoma. Tyler and Jaida Adamson (Erica and Layton). He also leaves behind the families of his heart, Amanda Alvarez, Stefany Alvarez (Zuhur) Samantha, Sebastian, Zurina, originally from Columbia and Terri, Concho, Cristina Carbajal (Herbert) and Eduardo Carbajal from Mexico as well as numerous friends that were more like family.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the amazing staff at the Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care, 3E.
Cancer may have taken his life in the end, but it was just the footnote. Ken’s life was defined by the impact he made in everyone’s lives that he met. His kindness, generosity, adventurousness, selflessness, fairness and patience are just scratching the surface of why he left anyone he met, greater than before. He spoke often of cooperation, of turning the other cheek when it was called for and for standing up for oneself or for others depending on the situation. Yet, the greatest thing about him was his boundless capacity to love and love hard and unconditionally. He gave all of himself and more to those he loved and all of himself and more to that which he loved. He loved his family that seemed to grow and include more and more people from around the world. He loved to travel with his wife, his children, his family and his friends. Some of his favorite memories are from camping with his young family, and in later years spending time in Cozumel, Mexico, his second home, with family and friends. He loved his friends. The army that has surrounded his family at this time is a testament to those friendships that were forged over good meals, camping trips, baseball games, church picnics and so much more. He loved to serve. He was a quiet server. He stepped in whenever and wherever he was called to without most even noticing. He not only served within his church in Canada and Mexico but his service to World Wide Marriage Encounter was some of the most meaningful service he ever did with his wife and his army of amazing friends. He loved his pets, especially little Osito that tried in the end to lick him back to health. He loved the farm on his mother’s side and all it represented to him. As a haven when he was young and a place of peace and hard work over the years. The time he spent there in his later years, meant so much to him. He loved his sports. He loved the Winnipeg Jets, the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Saskatchewan Roughriders most of all. Yet it really was the people that he loved the most. Quality time spent with the people he loved.
Thank you Ken, for being the most astounding example to us all.
A service to honour his amazing life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg, with a reception to follow.
