Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday March 3 2019 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. She will be dearly missed by her children Dylan, Sherry (Amanda), and her two grandchildren Elliotte and Eden. She was predeceased by her sister Esther (Michael predeceased) and will be forever remembered by siblings Jill (Jim predeceased), Michael (Carolyn), Susan (Jim), Janet (Larry), and Patti (Jay predeceased) and mother-in-law Grace.
Kathryn was born and raised in Orillia Ontario to parents William and Cecelia Snyder (predeceased). Kathryn graduated from Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. Kathryn started at law firm Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt in 1979 and worked for them until retirement in 2018. She worked for Osler starting in the registry office as a title searcher and later attended George Brown College and became a law clerk.
Kathryn moved to Richmond Hill after starting with Osler and had her two children Sherry and Dylan while there, later moving to Stouffville in the late 1980’s where she lived ever since.
She enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities including long distance cycling, mountain biking, hiking, downhill skiing, baseball, bird watching, gardening, and swimming. Kathryn enjoyed sharing outdoor activities with her children and friends. She was involved with Newmarket Eagles cycling club and the Oak Ridge Trail Association hiking club. She also enjoyed music in many genres as well as musicals and musical performances. She participated in a community variety show as an ensemble singer with Music Mania in Stouffville. Most of all, Kathryn loved spending time with her granddaughters who always brought a smile to her face.
Kathryn was active in her home church Bloomington Gospel Church. She enjoyed helping with various events hosted by the church. She also volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and liked to help maintain the gardens around the church’s property.
Kathryn was caring, hardworking and always willing to help others. Her generosity and kind spirit will be missed. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home on Thursday March 7 2019 at 5-9 p.m. and funeral service on Friday March 8 2019 at 11a.m. Burial will be in Orillia and St. Andrew’s and St. James’ Cemetery Monday March 11 2019 at 12 noon.
