HINES, JOHN KENNETH “KEN”
Age 75, of Porters Lake and Truro, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2019 in Bissett Court Nursing Home, Cole Harbour. He was a son of the late John and Alice Hines.
Ken is survived by his wife Dianne (Clark) Hines, Dartmouth, son Gerald Todd Hines (Kelley) of Truro, grandchildren Channing and Courtney Hines and Brett Lynds. Stepchildren Sherry and Robert McDonald and their families. Also survived by brother, Roger (Janet) Hines & family, Winnipeg and brother in law Gerd Moritz & family. He was predeceased by his first wife Carol Martin and sister, Stella Mae Moritz.
Ken loved his years on the road as district manager of Atlantic Provinces, After Market Car Parts (Munroe & SKF) which took him to rural Newfoundland. He loved being “Inspector Munroe” in his dog costume for group meetings of women in the late 60s & 70s, who were owning and caring for their own cars.
The outdoors was where he found the most peace. Camping in Greenfield, fly fishing in Margaree, driving across Newfoundland in ATVs with his first wife, and creating a mini wildlife park in his and Dianne’s home in Porters Lake.
A special thanks to staff at Bissett Court, Cole Harbour, where they treated us like family during his 3 year stay. And special thanks to his Porters Lake friends Ken and Shirley Kennedy, for support and friendship.
