Elfrieda Goeres Monday January 28th 2019 avis de deces

Elfrieda Ruth Goeres (Lange)
With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our most beloved wife and mother who went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 28th, 2019 with her family by her side. Frieda will be greatly missed by her devoted husband Ferdinand of 52 years, her children Carla (Norbert) and Carrie (Glenn) as well as her sister, two brothers, their families, her husband’s family and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Frieda was born on February 5, 1935, the eldest of Theodore and Elsa Lange’s 5 children. She spent the first few years of her life living on a farm in Osborne Manitoba with her extended family and then later moved to a farm close to Lord Kitchener (John Pritchard) School in Winnipeg. Life on the farm was full of adventure, hard work and reward. It brought and kept the family close together and strengthened their faith and trust in God. It had a huge influence on Frieda’s character instilling patience, resourcefulness, generosity and perseverance.
Frieda loved attending school and enjoyed learning new things. She was especially good with numbers and when the war cut her education short, she put her skills towards pursuing a career in bookkeeping at Acme Garment where she worked for 17 years and then later at Independent Jewelers in the office. Her hard work, integrity and loyalty were her trademark. She always did what was right whether people were watching or not. In 1960, the family moved to the city and started a new chapter of life there.
On June 4, 1966 Frieda married Ferdinand Goeres and traded her business career to become a mother and homemaker. Frieda’s greatest joy and accomplishment were her family. Her happiest moments were spent making memories with them, supporting and encouraging them and never resting until the good was better and the better was best. Frieda faithfully and selflessly cared for her family, always putting them first and went without so they could have. Frieda was a very humble person and made quiet sacrifices regularly so that others could flourish. She never took the simple things in life around her for granted and commented daily on how fortunate and thankful she was. Frieda was well known in her family for her wise words, her amazing inner strength and her generosity to help others. She always accepted whatever came her way.
Frieda was a woman of extravagant faith and witnessed many miracles in her life. She desired always to serve God and others and enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and VBS, working in the kitchen, praying for others and helping wherever and whenever possible.
Eleven years ago, dementia slowly began to steal bits of Frieda’s life away. It was a difficult and heart-breaking journey, but Frieda courageously and determinedly took what was sent her way without complaining. Her loving husband, Ferdinand never left her side, caring with huge devotion for her at home until her final breath on earth.
Words cannot express how much Frieda will truly be missed.
She will be lovingly remembered.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Church of God, 705 Concordia Avenue. Interment to follow at the Elmwood Cemetery.
