Dr. Terrence Trudeau
1942-2019
Terrance Roger Trudeau passed away peacefully on March
22nd, 2019, at the Moncton Hospital, New
Brunswick. He was 76 years old at the time of his
passing.
Terry was born in Montreal, Quebec, on September
25th, 1942 and grew up in a family of three
boys and one girl. He attended Saint Leo’s Academy in
Westmount and went on to earn degrees in Honours Economics at Carleton
University and in Medicine at the University of Ottawa. As a
psychiatric resident he worked in Montreal at the Jewish General,
Allan Memorial Institute, St. Justine, and Notre Dame and in Dijon,
France .
Most of his life Terry worked as a psychiatrist; initially
with the Institut Philippe-Pinel in Montreal as a forensic
psychiatrist and L’hopital Louis Hyppolite Lafontaine, and
later with the Child and Adolescent Unit at the Moncton Hospital.
Throughout his career he worked with many different groups including
those in prison, children and adolescents. While working in Montreal
as a psychiatrist Terry also ran for the NDP in the Saint-Leonard-
Anjou riding in the general federal election of 1984.
Terry was generous to a fault with all his patients, empathic
with everyone and would go out of his way to find the best possible
solution to support a patient suffering a mental illness. He was
always kind both to those who knew him, his many colleagues, patients
and members of his extended family. Terry would often travel great
distances to make sure someone in trouble received his
support.
During his life, Terry suffered from many illnesses,
including diabetes, Addison’s disease, bowel cancer, and
heart disease. Never once did he complain or allow those diseases to
prevent from him doing his best to help others. He was an inspiration
to everyone who knew him always showing great courage, love,
generosity and kindness.
Terry is survived by his wife Chantal in Moncton, son
Nicholas in Moscow, brother Robert (spouse Reiko) in Thunder Bay,
sister Lise in Thunder Bay, nephew Matthew (partner Katie) in Toronto,
niece Miho (spouse Gregory) in Calgary, and sisters -in-law Maryse
(spouse Don) in Victoria, Marie France in Dijon,
niece Véronique and nephews Laurent and Stéphane
. Terry was predeceased by his younger brother Richard who worked as a
medical emergency room doctor in the United States.
Chantal would like to thank the staff on 4600 at the Moncton

was a long-term patient in the hospital. A special thank to Dr John Li
