Christel Vernice Windrow
1941-2019
We, the family of Christel Vernice Windrow, are saddened to
announce the passing of Dad’s sweetheart and our mother and
grandmother. Surrounded by loved ones, Christel passed peacefully on
Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Wolfville Nursing Home, due to
complications of diabetes. She was born in Truro on October 31, 1941
to Herman and Annie (Langille) Kaulbach. She moved to New Ross in 1951
where she met the love of her life, Lowell Windrow. She enjoyed
spending time with her family and friends, especially her
grandchildren. She had a passion for craft making, playing cards and
taking drives to the shore where she’d stop at every yard
sale along the way. Her favourite past-time was playing bingo,
anywhere at anytime. Christel loved unconditionally, with a heart
bigger than life. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lowell
Windrow, Kentville; daughters; Beatrice (Dirk) Vanderwal, Ottawa;
Heather Windrow (Dennis Day), Kentville; and Pamela (Fred) Young,
Kentville; grandchildren; Annie Young (Andrew Dykens); Olivia
Vanderwal; William Young; Jade Windrow (Tanner Ward); Shayla Windrow
(Logan Dill) and the sparkle in her eye; her great-grandson, Alex. She
also leaves behind many adoptive children and grandchildren along her
way; Tam Tam and Paul, Tracy, Jeff, Chris and many others, you know
who you are; sisters-in-law, Pearl Kaulbach and Mary Reeves and many
nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, brother, Charles
Kaulbach, brother-in-law, Murray Reeves, and parents-in-law, Ted and
Flossy Windrow. There will be no visitation or funeral service, by her
request. A celebration of life will take place at the Centreville
Baptist Church Hall, 870 Murray Drive, Centreville, on Saturday, March
9, 2019 from 2-5 p.m., sharing of memories will take place at 3:00
p.m. Family flowers only, by request. Donations can be made to the VON
– Annapolis Valley or charity of choice. The family would
like to give special thanks to VON, Medical A at VRH, Birchwood
Medical Centre, Dr. Davidson, and the staff at Wolfville Nursing Home.
She will be forever missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to the
White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
