Obituary of Shirley Smith
Age 82 of Bald Rock, passed away surrounded by her family February 12, 2019. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Blanche Jensen. Shirley had a green thumb and could have grown anything in her garden. She loved attending to her flower and vegetable garden. She loved to be outdoors, you could always find her taking long walks in the woods, swimming or just enjoying nature. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and quilting. Shirley was a member of the St. James United Church UCW for 25 years and for a time was treasurer. She loved giving back to the community and was very generous, she would help with bake sales, church dinners and community events. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially for the family’s dogs and always had treats for them when they came to visit her. Shirley is survived by son, Greg Smith; daughter, Debbie Smith; grandchildren, Scott Smith, Sasha Smith, Bradley Smith and Danielle Dunbar; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Smith and Emmett Smith; brother, Richard (Diann) Jensen. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Burton Smith. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes there will no visitation. A funeral service will be held March 2 at St. James United Church, 3811 Old Sambro Rd. at 2 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society or St. James United Church.
