Lorenzo “Joe” Allen O’Connor
1928-2019
Lorenzo “Joe” O’Connor, 90, of Riverview passed away peacefully
on February 12th, 2019 at the Moncton Hospital with his family
by his side.
Joe was born in Edgett’s Landing on
September 28th, 1928 the son of the late William and Evangeline
(Milton) O’Connor.
He worked as a Trades Foreman in Yellowknife for years
until his retirement. Joe was a jack of all trades and could
do anything he put his mind to. After his retirement he couldn’t stay
idle, so he went to work at a few other jobs, one being a
Commissionaire in Fundy National Park. He was a
veteran of the Korean War, a tank driver, he was proud to be a veteran
and served his country well. He was active in the
Korean Vets ,Riverview Vets and belonged to
the Hillsborough Royal Canadian Legion Branch #
32. They could always count on Joe to be there for his
fellow comrades to support them in anyway he could.
He enjoyed camping and really treasured all the fond
memories made throughout the years over the campfires. Most
of all he loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and
grandfather. He looked after his wife, Ruby, for several
years until her passing and did a great job as caregiver. He
will be remembered for his kindness, great smile and
generosity. He left a lasting impression on
everyone he met and his legacy of love will never be
forgotten.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Karen Richard
(Chris) of Riverview; son, Bill O’Connor (Lori) of Calgary; his
precious grandchildren, Jamie, Shea and Hayden. He was the
last surviving member of his immediate family. He will also
be missed by several nieces, nephews and many good
friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife,
Ruby (Fenton); infant daughter, Wendy Ann; sisters, Mary, Edna, Marie,
Della, Phyllis, Effie and Georgie; brothers, Robert, Doyle, Phillip,
King and Curtis.
There will be no visitation. A Legion Service
will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home to coincide with the
funeral service on Sunday, February 17th, 2019 starting at 2:00pm with
Rev. Barbara Haire officiating. Interment will be in the
Grey’s Island Cemetery, Hillsborough, NB in the
