Howard Myron Christie
1943-2019
Howard M. Christie passed away on February 26th, 2019 just
after midnight at the Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB after
fighting the final stages of Parkinson’s.
He is survived by his daughter Leslie Elizabeth Christie, son
Julian Harry Christie (fiancée Pamela Dawn Young), sister
Anna Bailey (husband Reginald Bailey) and niece Cynthia Bailey. Howard
is predeceased by his loving wife Mary Ellen Christie as well as his
parents, Harry and Edna (McInnis) Christie.
After high school Howard graduated from Teachers College and
he ended his career at the Revenue Office. He will always be
remembered for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor and his amazing
story telling skills. He also had a love for music and was
an accomplished pianist. In fact, when he was teaching
sailing at the Boat Club it was there that he met his future bride,
Mary Ellen while he was playing the piano.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at McAdam’s
Funeral Home, 160 York Street in Fredericton, NB on Friday, March 1st,
2019 from 6 – 9 pm. Words of remembrance and
prayers will begin at 6:30 pm with visitation to follow. In
lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Howard’s memory may be
made to the Parkinson Society or to a charity of the donor’s
choice.
“My father has always been well known around this city
from his many years serving and managing the Revenue Office here in
Fredericton. He was also known for his work with the congregations of
Marysville United Church and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian
Church and friends in the community. He will be remembered by many
people as a man of honor and integrity who always followed through for
people and consistently stood up for what he believed in. He will be
remembered by our family as a man who loved his wife and family above
all else and sacrificed everything to make us safe and happy. I hope I
can be a fraction of who my father was as a human being and I
don’t think someone like him is ever gone or forgotten. We
love you and miss you so much dad.” Written by son Julian
Christie.
