It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our pillar of strength and love; Charles (CHUCK) Lewis. Chuck passed away surrounded by his loving family to the sounds of Irish music at the Health Sciences Center, St. John’s on February 24th, 2019.
We were blessed to learn so many valuable lessons from Chuck during his brief life and his challenging battle with cancer: love one another fiercely, be kind to all and help any and all in need.
Chuck was predeceased by his Dad and best friend, Charlie Lewis as well as his grandparents, Harold and Gertrude Lewis and Gerald and Mary Matthews.
Chuck was blessed with many friends during his lifetime; his work mates at the National Research Council as well as his band mates of The Masterless Men. We will be forever grateful to all of them for their love and support. We feel so blessed with the dedication and love that Stephen and Amanda Crane have shown us over the years; from medical and moral support, nursing care, meals, and constant companionship. Thank you to them just doesn’t seem enough.
The nursing and medical staff on 4NorthA at the Health Sciences Center, and those of the ATP department have become a second family to us. We will love and miss them greatly. They truly are an all-star team.
Leaving to mourn, and still surrounded by his love, is his dedicated wife and angel, Lou Ann, as well as fur baby Molly, his Mom (Sheila), his brothers Mark (Goldie) and Rick Verge (Louise), his parents – in- law Patrick and Carmel Edwards as well as a large circle of sisters and brothers in law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, all whom be loved dearly.
Visitation for Chuck will take place at Cauls Funeral Home, Torbay on Tuesday, February 26th from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Further arrangements will be announced as soon as they are available.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Newfoundland.
