Obituary of William “Bill” Adie
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Adie of West Arichat, that occurred January 23, 2019 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish at the age of 94 years. Born in Manchester, England on May 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Francis Edgar and Kathleen Adie (Downey). Bill was a veteran of WW2 serving in the Royal Navy in the Pacific Fleet. He served as a Police Officer with the Stockport Borough Cheshire Constabulary and the greater Manchester Police force retiring with the rank of Inspector after 25 years. He emigrated to Canada in 1974 residing in the Sydney area where he worked for the John Howard Society and as a finish carpenter for the Cabot Craft Boats, he later settled in West Arichat for the remainder of his life. Bill is survived by his brother, Norman Earle of Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years Una Mary (nee Lewis) three brothers and two sisters. The family wishes to thank the neighbors and friends that have supported Bill over the years while living in West Arichat. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the War Amps Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society. Visitation will be held at C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home 633 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Arichat on Wednesday evening January 30th from 7-9pm. A reception will be held following prayers at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in the Resurrection Cemetery in Sydney Forks beside his wife Una. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat.
