Joan Auldene Drodge
DRODGE, Joan A. – Joan Auldene Drodge (Locke), originally of Lockston, Trinity Bay, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2019 at Glenbrook Lodge, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Mary Ann Locke, and siblings, Leah (Bob) Fowlow, Jane (Dewey) Pfeiffer and William Locke. Left to celebrate Joan are: the love of her life, husband, Eldon Drodge; daughters: Kelly Cooper and Susan Drodge; son-in-law, Tracey Cooper; cherished grandsons: Daniel, Zac, Ben and Jack; siblings: Gloria (Ray) Downer and Fred (Anne) Locke; sisters-in-law: Jessie (Bob) Hollett, Mildred (Gord) Cousens, Carol (Herb) Head, Lynn (Dave) Bailey; and brothers-in-law: Glenn (Janice) Drodge and Fred Benson; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; best friends: Linda Harnett and Enid O’Brien; and special animal friends: Meadow, Brady and Puck. A dedicated grandmother and retired teacher, Joan will be remembered by many for her love of children and animals, her gentle and charitable nature, and spirited individuality and humour. Visitation at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Thursday, January 24 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place at St. Augustine’s Church, 1 Westerland Road, on Friday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. Joan expressed her love and compassion every day in simple acts of kindness and would be honoured to be remembered by a thoughtful gesture, kind act or donation to a charity of your choice.
