OBITUARY
Ida Margaret Theodora Fleming
February 14, 1915 – January 13, 2019
Ida Fleming passed away peacefully at the Providence Care Centre, Calgary on January 13, 2019 at the age of 103 years and 333 days! Ida will be sadly missed by her children Tom (Willa) Fleming, Pat (Vic) Nielsen and Janice (Steve) Lynch; her grandchildren Michael, Scott, Dave (Shawna), Erin (Jon), Sean and Katie (Steve); and her great-grandchildren Phoenix, Elise, Laurenne, Peter, Alexa and Clara. She will also be missed by her many cousins and friends. Ida was predeceased by her husband James “Ted” Fleming, her parents and two brothers.
Ida, in her almost 104 years, was an example to us all. She worked many years as a librarian in Edmonton and Winnipeg and was an avid reader. She was outdoor enthusiast and spent many years canoeing and skiing around Edmonton, Banff, Jasper and Winnipeg. She disliked housework but loved her garden! Ted and Ida travelled much of the world and loved all the adventures they had on their travels. During World War II she served overseas with RCAF women’s division working in the Operations Room. She found joy in all her travels, her books, garden and activities. She loved all her children and grandchildren and loved to hear what they were doing. She always had a story to tell about her life and loved to tell these stories.
