Winslow George Cummings was born on September 19, 1933 in Georgetown, Guyana. He passed away quietly, with family by his side, on May 18, 2018 at St Joseph’s Healthcare.
George is survived by Ilene, his devoted and loving wife of 62 years. He was a proud father of his two sons Mark and Gregory. Loving grandpa/papa of Shauntele, Kellen, Aneacia and Taylor.
George was the son of the late Winslow Shervington and the late
Arabella Cummings. Loving step son of Thelma Shervington.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters : Gordon (Joy), Connie, Wilma (Keith), Chris (Desiree), Dawne (Phillip), Andra (Wayne).
George leaves to mourn many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in Guyana, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States; special recognition to the Franco family for their love and support through the years.
George was a founding member and the first President of the Guyana Association of Hamilton and also President of the Otis Recreation Club. He enjoyed listening to music and being with his family and friends. He was also a retired employee of Siemens Canada.
Our Family wishes to extend a heartful thanks to all of the nursing and personal support staff at the St. Joesph’s Hospital ALC unit for their overwhelming care and support during his time in their care. (Always remember The OJays classic song, “For The Love of Money”)
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – 947 Rymal Road E, Hamilton (905-574-0405) on Saturday June 2nd from 11:00 a.m-1:00 p.m. Service at 1:00 p.m in the Bay Gardens Chapel followed by a Reception.
In lieu of flowers, the Cummings family would like you to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society in George’s memory.
